I am blessed to live in Indiana, a state I share with many Amish communities. (I find the best spices, hot cereal, and good cooking advice at an Amish store not too far away.)
I'm a teacher so I spend most of my waking hours with young people. I love chatting with them and hearing their views on love and life. My students are magical, and I am honored to be part of their lives.
I've lived in Honduras, Grand Cayman, and Costa Rica. One of my favorite activities is exploring other cultures. My husband, Paul, and I have two grown children and three precious grandchildren, special delivery from Africa. I love to hole up in our lake cabin and write -- often with a batch of popcorn nearby. (Oh, and did I mention dark chocolate?)

Super short stories

I enjoyed these first four books in this series. Well written and I could not stop reading once I started. I had to read the next two. That why I gave the five stars

Good story and well written

I bought Amish Romance primarily because I had met the author, Brenda Maxfield. So I was curious about her writing. The stories are more aimed at a female audience, but I found it very easy reading and thought that it flowed very well, with a good story line. Having lived near and worked in an Amish Community years ago, I have some idea about their culture and traditions. I didn't see any glaring errors, although I am not well enough acquainted to say for sure, but it seemed to me she caught the flavor of their unique culture and it seemed the story fit in well. She seemed to have a genuine appreciation, without glorifying it as being idealistic or something that would be for everyone. In communities where the Amish live there is a comfortable interrelationship between them and the "English" that I thought she portrayed very well. I recommend these short stories and compliment Brenda on her writing.
