About the Author
Known as “Nonnie Carol,” Rev. Richardson recently co-created the Self-Realization Community of greater Washington, DC. She also provides transformational experiences for others to help them connect with the divine through energy healing, wholeness coaching, and teaching meditation. Born on the equator in Africa, Nonnie Carol grew up in three African countries and three different states in the USA. She has a BS in psychology, a master of public health degree and a master of divinity degree from Vanderbilt Divinity School. Much of her training in meditation and healing came from a spiritual center in England, UK. Ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in 1994, she is now an interfaith minister. Widowed at age 28, she has two young adult children - a daughter and a son.

Beautiful personal journey

I love the very first line in the preface of this book. "...this book is the story of how to lose your mind without going crazy." Carol Richardson brings you through her personal journey toward enlightenment in such a very real and human way, while step by step giving her mind and heart over to the divine. This book is full of information that most people would see as impossible or even crazy. Yet, she carries us through, connecting her human reactions regarding the changes taking place in her life, to the acceptance of God working in her and through her in very mystical ways. Her story allows us to see that even through the challenges of life and our own personal challenges or imperfections, we are all connected to God and can continually grow in our relationship with him on our journey toward enlightenment. I also love how this book pulls together the truths of many different teachings into one truth. That of love, living in the present, and of our connections to one another and to the divine.

Mornings with a master of the Masters

I'm only halfway done but already recommending it to anyone who wants to have - or understand someone else's - spiritual life. Richardson makes clear work of what has always been so obtuse and, well, mystical, that even the uninitiated (like myself) can understand it. She ties together so many different traditions and practices in a way you can see the string of truth that runs through them all. What's more, she does it with such humility and empathy that she allows the reader to imagine what it might be like if we had the heart, commitment, courage, and persistence that she does.

Carol not only shares her mystical journey, but how in spite of her life—a life like many earthlings—she became an intuitive, a healer, and a spiritual leader. I read Morning with the Masters as a manual, learning that the gift of practicing consistent meditation, contemplative living, service and surrender is self-realization. It is an encouraging guide for all seekers of the Divine.
