About the Author
Roger Welsch is an adjunct professor of anthropology at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He is a former essayist for CBS News Sunday Morning and the author of more than forty books, including Embracing Fry Bread: Confessions of a Wannabe, available from Bison Books.

I loved this book!

First of all, my husband & I own a used & rare bookshop, but that has not influenced my review.
Also, I didn't buy my copy from Amazon. I received it as a gift from a friend who knows how much I like this author's work. I'm surprised to see that it has no reviews yet, so I thought I'd share what I thought of it.
Those of you familiar with any of Roger Welsch's other books already know how enjoyable they are. He may be the finest humorist & folklorist writing today. This book is unlike much of his other work in that it's a deeply personal account of his own spiritual journey over the past forty years. His close ties to the Pawnee & Omaha Indians have played a major part in this journey, and the stories he shares are wonderful.
In short, it's a terrific book. It's not only full of interesting stuff, it's beautifully written. He's told his story with sensitivity, honesty & a gentle self-deprecating humor. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. Dinner didn't get made that night, but it was worth it. Pat Wendt - Bluestem Books

It's hard for me to pick a favorite among Roger Welsch's books

It's hard for me to pick a favorite among Roger Welsch's books, but this one is certainly one of the best. It is very thought-provoking as it leads the reader through exploring "The Great Mysterious" of Native beliefs. I was quite surprised to find several of the things he had encountered had happened in my own life. Who knew coyotes leave gifts? You can be sure, "Something is Going On."

Great Book

I can't add much to the review already posted. This is a grand book, beautifully written. What I find most attractive is that Welsch is not a true believer. This really is a skeptics journey and that makes it a richer experience to me.
Mr Welsch has written on subjects ranging from Willa Cather's kitchen to tractor repair. His work is always witty and gentle. I have already sent a copy to my son and a select group of my friends may find copies arriving as birthdays pop up. I like it that much.
