About the Author
Galen Harrill's passion for the church developed as he saw God working powerfully in his native Northeast through the individual and collective activities of churches throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey. His participation in these works greatly matured his love of service in a cause greater than himself and challenged him to seek how he might further God's Kingdom wherever God placed him. In college, he gained experience in ministry and missions as he served internships in Illinois, California and Kenya. After earning degrees at Abilene Christian University, he worked with a small church in Philadelphia while preparing to go abroad. In 1995 he moved to Prague, Czech Republic to serve with a church planting team among a predominately atheistic population. It was there he faced his greatest challenges as he grew to understand the limitless power of faith working in the lives of God's people. He met and married his wife while serving in Prague and two of their three children were born there. They returned to the States in 2005 and moved to Pennsylvania, where Galen has worked as a special education teacher and itinerant preacher. Officially, he has served with churches in East Lansdowne, Pottstown and North Wales, PA.
He currently preaches at the North Penn Church of Christ in North Wales. While serving as preacher for this congregation over the past three years, Galen has helped to nurture this loving congregation to greater depths and heights of love and service for Christ.
Galen holds two bachelor's degrees in Biblical Studies and Human Communication and two master's degrees in Missions and Educational Leadership. He lives in Lancaster County with his wife and three children.

Luke for You

Must have this book in your library. It is insightful, deep in its message and yet easy to read and understand. I just finished reading it. As I was going through it I was constantly rediscovering a deeper relationship and love God wants to have with me and my need to come closer to Him to enjoy His love. But it was also very provoking in terms of self- examination of my willingness to give God my part of this relationship- my commitment to Him. I could not put this book down. It is serious enough to make you realize this is the real God that loves me no matter who I am or what I am. It is a tremendously encouraging book and after you read it you will want to be closer to God and be loved the way only God can love. It is very insightful in bringing the world of Jesus into the light of our reality and makes the imagery of the New Testament possible to understand in the 21st century. I often struggle to picture the atmosphere of the New Testament and therefore miss important facts for interpretation of the meaning. NOT SO with this book! I highly recommend this book for you, your friends, family and anybody who loves the Lord and wants to understand His love, purpose, and desire to be with you. The author stated that the title of the book is Luke for You but it really is Jesus for You. Get it and immerse yourself in the world of Jesus, BUT also your world with Jesus. You will not regret!

I was immediately excited to start in on the book when right off the bat I learned something new: Theophilus, the person the book is written to, has a name that means “Lover of God,” so in a way it is written to all those who love God. I just became the recipient of the writing. I’m in!
I don’t know how this guy wrote a ‘fresh’ book on another book that was written 2000 years ago, but he really did. It’s a nice easy read, broken up into bite size morsels while still going deep into what God wants us to hear through Luke. It doesn't pull any punches, Luke really is written, "For You."
It’s not a verse-by-verse commentary and it’s not a devotional book. It’s a great mix of both, but the best part is that it’s told as a story in the context of the time, and dramatically connected to your life now. Wow. Only an honest and humble look at the scriptures can achieve that punch.
I enjoyed the whole book, but he had me at “Theophilus.”

Jesus has a mission so focused on revealing God's love for all mankind

Do you really know how much God loves you? Do you need or want a reminder? This book with its conversational style, filled with stories with which you can relate, delivers a powerful message you cannot miss: Jesus came with a mission and He accomplished it with fascinating deliberation. "Luke for You" leads you along with Jesus as He interacts with people from every social status, bringing them life-changing news which challenges the status quo. Jesus has a mission so focused on revealing God's love for all mankind, it culminates in His crucifixion but triumphs in His resurrection. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Luke recorded it in an "orderly" manner for Theophilus and we receive the benefit of that "orderly" account. In "Luke for You", Galen has captured this mission as it relates to all of us today in every nation and every social status and confronts us with the magnitude of God's love for us.
This book is stimulating excellent conversation and insights among a group of women who are currently reading it. Get it. Enjoy it and be challenged and encouraged.
