Such an amazing book on wisdom! Much valuable practical information on wisdom for wisdom! I reccommend this book for all because it triggers and can transform your mind on what is considered wise according to the word of God and how it can be applied to our everyday lives. Very well written and narrated.

I have always enjoyed listening to Jerry Savelle minister the Word but it was a pleasure going behind the scenes and observing how other men and women influenced his life and ministry. I took a lot of notes on the nuggets of wisdom they imparted into his life.

About the Author
The author of The Secret of the Rosary and the originator of total consecration to Mary, St. Louis-Marie Grignion De Montfort (1673-1716) remains one of the greatest apostles of Marian devotion the world has ever known. As a young priest, De Montfort dedicated himself to preaching to the people. This highly gifted orator's language was simple but full of divine love, much as you will find in True Devotion to Mary. De Montfort s whole life was marked by constant prayer, love for the poor and holy joy in humiliations and persecutions. De Montfort was canonized by Pius XII in 1947.

Finally - a new edition of True Devotion to Mary which combines this celebrated marian work with all the readings necessary to prepare for the initial or renewal of the consecration to Jesus through Mary. For readers well familiar with this work, they will welcome the new look and feel - just beautiful and very well done. But they'll also appreciate the over 130 pages of extra readings to prepare oneself spiritually for the devotion which St. Louis de Montfort describes. This additional material includes several chapters from the Holy Gospel as well as The Imitation of Christ, in addition to all of the prayers recommended by St. Louis de Montfort.

For the uninitiated truly interested in Marian devotion there really is no other book on par with this one. Praised by popes, saints and other holy persons, the book situates Marian devotion within the most effective and humble paths to perfection, well tested over time, and attested throughout the last two thousand years from the earliest fathers and saints of the Church to the most recent approved marian apparitions. Readers of this book have always found that it lays out in a very compelling and progressive manner how to best approach this beloved devotion, pointing out some of the dangerous and erroneous practices that have lead souls astray and created so much misgivings between Catholic and Protestant Christians, and leading the reader ever closer to the true devotion which is tender, honest, cognisant of our own incapacities and ever focussed on the ultimate objective, a perfect union with Jesus.

This is the only edition to read.

This is the best and the truest edition of this wonderful book in my opinion. I purchased "The True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin," (slightly different title) thinking it was the version I had in book form. It is not. This one is. It just feels right. I recommend it highly. I also recommend "The Secret of Mary," a small, related booklet, also by St. Montfort. Buy both.

If you are buying this because you wanted to get True Devotion and Preparation for Total Consecration together, I'd advise not doing so. This version of Preparation for Total Consecration is confusing. It does not split the readings into days but gives you all of the reading for each period in one place. It does not specify exactly what to read which makes it hard. If you are looking for a way to do the preparation that is more flexible, I suggest this book. Kelly's writing style drew me in from the very beginning and kept me jumping to the next chapter. What she has shared here is not just a book or story. It is life and death; good and evil. It is real and valuable, clear, understandable and revealing. It is solid wisdom about life lessons from an open loving heart. This story is very applicable to our current culture and it's trends.I hope it finds it's way into colleges where young women can be prepared for what has become trendy to date 'internationals' who appear safe and understanding. I am inspired by the strength and courage of this author. (Can't wait for the sequel.)

I loved her book

I found the book to be a very honest and truthfull testament of Kellie's life! I realize how hard it must of been for her to recall some of the content she shared with her readers. I loved her book. Her knowledge of both the Catholic and Muslim Religion was thought provoking for me. I hope she continues to feel the near presence of Christ throughout her entire life. Excellent Teaching Resource for Three-year-Old!!

I bought this from Deseret Book, and it is EXCELLENT. I love the side-by-side illustrations of Jesus' day and our day. I quietly read it to my son during the Sacrament, and it keeps him quiet and focused on the true meaning of church. I hope this author does many more titles!!

Upper West Side Story, true to its title, bring us to New York's upper west side, a mixed race neighborhood, not far from the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, where apartment dwellers may look down on laundry drying on clothes lines, where Nelson the homeless "blanket man" can be found stirring as the morning begins.It is in this neighborhood that a treasured friendship develops between young teen age boys - one black, one white- a friendship that will end in tragedy. There is a student outing, a freak accident, an almost unbelievable twist of fate. But there it is. And because this is a New York story racial unrest and political monkey business are there, at the door - just waiting for it to open a crack.

Susan Pashman writes with such power of her love for these families, for the children and for the mothers and fathers, the mothers especially, and this is not sentimental love. Wonderfully written!

While the underlying theme of "Upper West Side Story" is urban parenting amidst racial unrest and distrust, the most compelling element is a mother's fight to do anything possible to save her teenage son from unjust imprisonment. It's a story of unexpected friendships and eye-opening views on unconscious racial bias. Wonderfully written!

Upper West Side mess

The story line, which seemed fairly promising and currently timely at the beginning, became repetitive and boring; the narrator's pity for herself, her son and her family was overwritten and tedious. The daughter was precocious to the point of absurdity. Also the political aspects of the plot and the thinly disguised characters at City Hall (the Al Sharpton-type character most prominently) just didn't work. The plot line becomes confusing as the father scrambles to have his son released from detention. I had no sympathy for anyone after a while, including the victim's family and the incarcerated son in the juvenile detention center. It was difificult to care about any of them.
