Meditation is a winner

The author takes the reader through a history of the practice, then focuses on exactly what happens in your brain as you meditate. The frontal lobe stops processing such activities as planning, self-conscious awareness, reasoning and emotions. In fact, similar calming actions take place throughout the brain.
When you meditate, you will realize several health benefits, in addition to the overall calming effect of the activity. Among these benefits are better focus, less anxiety, more creativity, more compassion, and better memory.
The author next advises you on getting started in the right way by choosing the best place to meditate and what positions might make the most sense for you.
Setting goals for your meditation are important, also, such as deciding on the length of time that is best for you and how best to control your breathing for optimum effect.
